Adult Formation
"Were not our hearts burning within us while He spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to us?" (Lk 24:32)
Before us, in the wonder of God's gracious plan, stretch new opportunities to proclaim the Good News of Jesus to all the world. We are eager to witness and share the word of life about the reign of God faithfully, so that each new generation can hear this word in its own accents and discover Christ as its Savior.
Every disciple of the Lord Jesus shares in this mission. To do their part, we must be mature in faith and become well equipped to share the Gospel, promoting it in every family circle, in every church gathering, in every place of work, and in every public forum. We must be women and men of prayer whose faith is alive and vital, grounded in a deep commitment to the person and message of Jesus.
Adult Faith Formation is the process through which people consciously grow in the life of Christ through experience, reflection, prayer, and Bible Study. You are invited to participate in this blessed spiritual process through Sunday Adult Forums, Parish Missions, Volunteer Ministries, Liturgical and sacramental celebrations, Bible Studies, Book Studies and more.
Rector's Book Study
The right book at the right time has the power to change EVERYTHING!
The Rector's Book Study exists on the principle that the Word of God is active and relational through every aspect of life and that the Word is present to us no less in the words of novels, as He is in the Word’s of Scripture.
It is constantly reaffirmed that we find surprising revelations in reading-revelations we did not seek or expect-this is God! Our Book Study is open to any and all and our books are selected through a prayerful process open to everyone. Past studies have included: The Shack, Screwtape Letters, The Problem of Pain, Lord of the Rings, Mere Christianity, On the Incarnation (Athanasios), Raising a Modern Day Knight, The Divine Dance, The Prodigal Prophet, and others.
The Rector's Book Study is meeting every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. through a Zoom meeting. Prior knowledge of any of these topics is not necessary! Our practice is to bring the book, listen to the book read through an audio file, then discuss what we heard and how God is present to the author and to us. Please contact Fr. Bill† for details.
Rector's Bible Study
The goal of the Bible Study is to encounter the Word who is God in the Word of God, so that those who participate will surrender to Jesus with the profound conviction of totus tuus, that is, “totally yours.” Although our emphasis is on Sacred Scripture, we experience this exploration by recognizing the Word present and living through the text in our lives. Christ is made known to us through our study and on our journey.
Bible Study is open to teens and adults of all ages, and any interested person is welcome regardless of their position in life’s journey. Our past studies have included: St Mark’s Gospel, St. John's Gospel, the Pastoral Letter, the Letters of St. Paul, The Book of Revelation, The Book of Jonah, Nehemiah, Genesis, Malachi, as well as others.
The Bible Study is meeting every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. through a Zoom meeting. For more information on Adult Formation and Bible Study meetings, please contact Fr. Bill†, 804-746-8765.
