Acolytes
Acolytes are part of a very old tradition that dates back into the Third Century. Since the year 250 A.D. acolytes have been people who served at the altar of God. The word “acolyte” itself comes from the Greek word “akolouthos” meaning “a follower” or “one who helps”.
At Creator we uphold this tradition and are blessed by youth and adults who assist the Priest at the Altar. Lighting the candles, carrying the Flags and the Dove, processing the Cross, and assisting the Priest for Holy Communion are among the blessings the Acolytes provide for the congregation.
If you are 8 years old or older and wish to serve as an Acolyte, please contact Fr. Bill† for more information.
Chalice Bearers/Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) and Lectors
Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) and Lectors (Lay Readers) are an integral part of all our worship. They assist with the distribution of communion and read the lessons at the various services. Chalice bearers assist the clergy in the administration of the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist. Eucharistic Ministers are required to be confirmed, while being a Lector is open to all. Please contact Fr. Bill† to learn more about this ministry.
